Barrenwort Lilafee
An elegant foliage plant, Epimedium grandiflorum Lilafee is well suited at the front of a shady border or next to woodland plants. This is a compact, deciduous, clump-forming, low growing perennial with attractive textured leaves making it suitable as ground cover or edging plant. Small purple cup flowers framed by four long pale spurs gives them a star shape which start to appear in early Spring on delicate wiry stems high above the foliage, shortly followed by beautifully bronze-flushed lopsided heart-shaped leaves. Barrenwort Lilafee prefers well-drained moist soil but can handle drier conditions once established. Lilafee looks fabulous planted en masse with sweet scented Lily Of The Valley.
