A gray, cream and muted brown colored Picasso marble horned owl with turquoise eyes inlaid in the middle of incised lines that radiate outwards around the pupil – carved by Derrick Kaamasee. Derrick has incised feathers on the wings in different patterns. The great horned owl is named for the tufts of feathers that sit on top of its head, called plumicorns. The Zuni believe the owl can see what others can not – they assist in helping to root out deception and they can get to the essence of true wisdom.
